Melissa Jewell

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

BA, MACP

Life can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re balancing multiple roles, expectations, and internal pressures. It’s easy to lose sight of yourself in the process. My goal is to support you in reconnecting with who you are, gaining a deeper understanding of your experiences, and moving forward with greater clarity and self-compassion.

I take a collaborative, person-centred approach to therapy, grounded in empathy, curiosity, and respect for your unique story. I strive to create a space where you feel safe exploring your thoughts, emotions, and patterns without fear of judgment. Together, we can make sense of what’s coming up for you and work toward meaningful, sustainable change.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or a general sense of feeling “stuck,” you don’t have to do it alone. Therapy is a space to slow down, reflect, and build insight into what you need.

Reaching out can feel like a big step, and I aim to meet you with warmth, openness, and authenticity from the very beginning.

My approach

I take a collaborative, person-centred approach to therapy, grounded in empathy, curiosity, and deep respect for your unique story. I strive to create a space where you feel safe exploring your thoughts, emotions, and patterns without fear of judgment. Together, we can make sense of what's coming up for you and work toward meaningful, sustainable change.

My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and integrative — allowing me to tailor therapy to your individual needs, goals, and the broader context of your lived experiences.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

Deepens emotional awareness and helps you process, understand, and transform the feelings that shape how you relate to yourself and others.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Identifies unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, creating space for new perspectives and more effective ways of coping.

Narrative Therapy

Explores the stories you hold about yourself and your life, separating you from your problems and uncovering new, more empowering narratives.

" Therapy is a space to slow down, reflect, and build insight into what you need. "

Professional background

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Trent University Durham, and a postgraduate certificate in Mental Health and Addiction from Durham College.

My professional experience includes working in community mental health and case management, supporting individuals experiencing addiction, mental health challenges, and complex psychosocial stressors, including housing instability and financial hardship. I have worked alongside individuals from low-income and unhoused communities, helping them navigate complex systems, access essential resources, and build skills that support stability, autonomy, and overall well-being.

In my most recent role, I support individuals navigating unemployment by helping them develop coping strategies for stress, burnout, and job search–related fatigue. I have also provided counselling in clinical settings, working with concerns such as anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, and life transitions.

My approach is trauma-informed, strength-based, and integrative, allowing me to tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs and goals. I draw from Emotion-Focused therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and other evidence-based modalities. Across my work, I have developed a strong foundation in building meaningful therapeutic relationships, supporting client autonomy, and understanding individuals within the broader context of their lived experiences.

A little something about me

I believe therapy works best when there is a genuine connection between client and therapist. I bring my authentic self into the room—empathetic, compassionate, and engaged.

My work is grounded in the understanding that people are shaped by both their lived experiences and the intersecting identities they hold. I take a holistic, non-judgmental approach that recognizes the impact of culture, environment, and life circumstances on mental health. Creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive space is central to my practice.

Outside of my professional role, I value balance, growth, and finding meaning in everyday life. I enjoy staying active by getting a good workout in, spending time outdoors, and appreciating good food—especially a hot oat latte.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you where you are while gently supporting you toward where you want to be, I would be honoured to work with you.
